Application OF Ni-P-ZrO 2 -Al 2 O 3 -Al 3 Zr Electroless Composite Coatings and Their Characteristics

Abstract

This paper investigates the application of Ni-P-ZrO₂-Al₂O₃-Al₃Zr (Ni-P-X) electroless coatings on three different substrate materials: commercial aluminium; low carbon steel and carbon fabric, by in situ co-precipitation of Al₂O₃ and ZrO₂ and by co-deposition with Al₃Zr. The Ni-P-X coatings have been studied in terms of composition and tribological behaviour. Application of Ni-P-X coatings on carbon fabric and their effect on UTS has also been explained.
