Abstract
If you have never submitted a manuscript to International Wood Products Journal or been asked to referee a paper, you will be unaware that the journal now uses an online submission and peer review system called Editorial Manager. This system is used by a number of journals and publishers and benefits authors by offering online submission of manuscripts, greater clarity of the publication process and faster turnaround times. It also reduces much of the tedium for the editorial team by keeping track of submissions and sending invitation letters, reminders and requests for revisions.
I was recently reminded of what a truly international journal we are when the system showed me that we received submissions from 23 countries during 2010 and the first half of 2011. Our editorial team is similarly widespread with 55 reviewers, spread over 11 countries, completing a total of 108 reviews during this period. We have sought reviewers globally as we feel that it is good for authors to see how their work is regarded elsewhere.
My sincere thanks go to our reviewers for their support and dedication to the journal. Their efforts often go unrecognised and to remedy this, the names of everyone who reviewed for the journal during 2010 and the first half of 2011 are listed below.
This issue contains the regular ‘In this issue’ synopsis and concludes with a number of PhD abstracts. Note that we are publishing a book review this time and hope there will be more to follow.
As is usual in my editorial, in addition to the usual contributions, I welcome letters of comment on anything in the journal, including requests for items that you would like to see.
