Three-Dimensional Thermoelastohydrodynamic Analysis of Pivoted Pad Thrust Bearings Part 1: Treatment of Bearing Deflections and Fluid Film Flow and Heat Transfer
A computational method is described for predicting the performance of pivoted pad thrust bearings. The model used allows for heat generation and transfer in the oil film and also heat conduction in the pad and other solid parts of the bearing. Pad deflections due to both temperature variations and oil film pressures are calculated, and an overall solution procedure developed which allows all of these effects to interact.
