Ene I Ette PhD FCP FCCP, a member of The Annals' editorial board since 1989, has been named the 2006 recipient of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy's (ACCP's) “Therapeutic Frontiers Lecture Award.” The award is given to “an internationally recognized scientist whose research is actively advancing the frontiers of pharmacotherapy when a particularly noteworthy candidate is identified in recognition of outstanding contributions to the vitality of ACCP or to the advancement of its goals that are well above the usual devotion of time, energy, or material goods.” In the area of population pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic modeling, Ette's contributions have been the most significant of any author in the last decade. His contributions have resulted in improved study design (a priori considerations), improved methods of model development, and novel methods of model evaluation (a posteriori). Researchers who are currently following the most rigorous and logical methods of pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic modeling are influenced by Ette's contributions in this area. Ette's contributions have a high profile among clinical pharmacists, clinical pharmacologists, statisticians, and pharmacometricians. Contributed by Paul J Williams PharmD MS FCCP FCP.
