To identify and select an individual who has the potential for establishing and/or directing interdisciplinary team care for individuals with craniofacial anomalies in their home country, and to provide the selected scholar with an educational experience in the treatment of craniofacial and cleft anomalies at ACPA-recognized cleft palate and craniofacial centers in various locations in the United States and Canada.
ACPA members who travel internationally identify local practitioners possessing significant potential to impact team care in their home country. The ACPA member encourages the local practitioner to apply for this scholarship, and volunteers to act as their ACPA Sponsor. The ACPA Sponsor calls upon his or her U.S. and Canadian contacts to develop an itinerary in which the chosen Candidate can observe interdisciplinary cleft care for one week at each of three different Host Centers. The Visiting Scholar's Program is completed within one week of the ACPA Annual Meeting, allowing the scholar to attend.
The program is supported by an educational grant by Stryker Craniomaxillofacial
