A new species of the genus Myrtopsen is described from material deposited in the insect collection of the National University of Colombia. This record represents the first species of this genus in the Colombian fauna, and the first record of the subfamily Thrasorinae in Colombia. Myrtopsen colombiensis n. sp. is a species with particular morphological characters that make it unmistakable from the other ten species that comprise this genus. The main morphological characters of this new species are illustrated.
