Summary
The effect of metaraminol on lipolysis was studied in isolated rat fat cells. It was found that metaraminol directly stimulates FFA release from isolated fat cells. However, the lipolytic activity of metaraminol was approximately 1/1000 that of NE. The lipolytic effect of metaraminol was blocked by both propranolol and phenoxybenzamine. In addition, metaraminol reduced NE-induced lipolysis significantly.
