—Dennis Darby CEO OPA
Former Procter & Gamble (P&G) executive Dennis Darby has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Ontario Pharmacists' Association (OPA).
The appointment took effect March 1, 2008. Mr. Darby was the P&G Director of North America External Relations, and prior to that, led research and development teams in Canada, the US, and Italy. He is co-inventor on 7 US and international patents related to P&G paper products technology. He has extensive experience working with a range of stakeholders, including governments and regulatory agencies, consumer advocacy groups and media, the OPA stated in a February 27 news release.
Mr. Darby has also served as chair of Stewardship Ontario (the provincial body that oversees the Blue Box recycling program), the Canadian Consumer Specialty Products Association, and the Canadian Cosmetics Toiletries and Fragrances Association. He holds a degree in chemical engineering and management from McMaster University.
Former OPA chair Donnie Edwards had held the position of interim CEO since June 2007, following the departure of former CEO Marc Kealey.
