Thanks very much for your comments. In the debate I was merely responding to the assertion that we should focus on [increasing adherence to] medication-taking rather than prescribing. Of course I would hope that no pharmacist would focus only on adherence to an incorrect drug (although how would they know if they weren't engaged in the care of the patient at the appropriate level?) And this isn't a valid point if the patient is not receiving a drug he or she should be, such as the situation when a patient should receive a statin but isn't.
