Answer D. Current National Institute of Clinical Excellence guidance recommends that the threshold for offering drug treatment for hypertension is
Blood pressure persistently raised more than 160/100 mmHg or Blood pressure more than 140/90 mmHg and cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk of at least 20%, existing CVD or target organ damage.
The aim of treatment is to reduce blood pressure to 140/90 mmHg or below and to 130/80 mmHg or below in patients with co-existent diabetes.
