Abstract

I am pleased to announce that L. Daniel Latt, MD, PhD, has agreed to become the Assistant Editor for Research Development and International Relations for FAI and FAO. Dan served as the inaugural Editor-in-Chief of Foot & Ankle Orthopaedics and did an outstanding job getting the journal started. He did a tremendous amount of work getting 20 review articles published on almost all areas of foot and ankle surgery and it now has a growing number of peer-reviewed research articles being published. In an attempt to streamline the editorial process for these 2 linked journals, I will assume the role of Editor-in-Chief of Foot & Ankle Orthopaedics for the next year until I step down as Editor-in-Chief of Foot & Ankle International in September 2020 in order to consolidate the 2 positions before the next Editor-in-Chief assumes this role. Dan has done an outstanding job in his time as Editor-in-Chief of Foot & Ankle Orthopaedics and deserves our sincere gratitude.
In Dan’s new position he will:
Work with international and less experienced scientists by providing resources on the conduct of research and research writing and helping them to get their work prepared so that it can be efficiently reviewed
Develop materials to help guide research writing for FAI / FAO, including a comprehensive guide for authors that will serve as an educational tool and a reference manual.
Assist in the developmental editing of manuscripts that have scientific merit but are not ready for production because of problems with organization, content, clarity, etc.
I would again like to thank Dan for his hard work getting Foot & Ankle Orthopaedics into production and look forward to working with him in this new position.
