Abstract

Answer A. Add amitriptyline
Adjuvants classically used alongside the World Health Organization (WHO) pain ladder can include antidepressants and anticonvulsants, such as gabapentine, pregabalin, amitriptyline and carbamazepine. These work well for neuropathic pain when used at a reduced dose compared to their therapeutic dose. Antidepressants such as amitriptyline also have the additional benefit of reducing anxiety and depressive symptoms.
