Human parvovirus B19 presents with a mild febrile illness, a slapped cheek (the harsh rash described), arthropathy, malaise and sometimes an aplastic crisis. Cytomegalovirus is usually asymptomatic and varicella zoster is diagnosed by the typical rash. Syphilis (primary) is characterised by an ulcer called a chancre with or without lymphadenopathy. Zika virus is present with a mild fever, rash, conjunctivitis, malaise and muscle aches.
